What is a Rubber Lined Split Clamp?

rubber lined split clamp is a two-piece pipe clamp with an EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) rubber liner bonded or fitted inside the metal body. The rubber liner sits between the metal clamp and the pipe surface — doing two jobs at once:

  1. Vibration absorption — the rubber layer absorbs vibration from pumps, compressors, or thermal movement, preventing transmission through the pipe support into the building structure
  2. Pipe surface protection — the rubber cushion distributes clamping load evenly and prevents metal-to-pipe contact wear that would otherwise groove the pipe wall over time

The "split" design means the clamp comes in two halves — upper and lower — connected by one or two bolts. The pipe drops into the lower half and the upper half clamps over it, making installation fast even on existing piping.

Where Rubber Lined Split Clamps Are Used

  1. HVAC Systems: Chilled water lines, hot water lines, refrigerant piping, fan coil unit connections — anywhere pump vibration or thermal cycling creates pipe movement.
  2. Plumbing: Risers and horizontal mains in commercial and high-rise buildings where pipe noise and vibration need to be controlled.
  3. Fire Protection Lines: Sprinkler mains and branch lines where the support also needs to isolate the pipe from structural steel.
  4. Industrial Process Piping: Compressor outlets, pump discharge lines, process fluid lines where steady-state vibration exists.
  5. Marine & Offshore: SS-bodied rubber lined clamps for shipboard piping where vibration is constant and corrosion resistance is essential.

Why Use Rubber Lined vs. Standard Metal Clamps?

Most buyers switch to rubber lined clamps after one of two field failures:

Scenario 1 — Pipe wear: A standard metal clamp grips directly on the pipe wall. Over months of operation, micro-movement at the contact point creates wear grooves, eventually leading to pinhole corrosion or stress cracking at supports. A rubber liner prevents this entirely.

Scenario 2 — Vibration transmission: Standard clamps transmit pump and compressor vibration directly into the building structure, creating noise in ceilings, walls, and floors. Rubber lined clamps break the vibration path — the rubber's elasticity absorbs the movement before it reaches the structure.

For HVAC systems, the additional cost of rubber lined clamps over standard MS clamps is typically recovered within 1–2 years through reduced maintenance, eliminated rework, and avoided noise complaints.

Ferry International: Why We're the Right Supplier

  • In-house manufacturing at Tronica City, Ghaziabad — not a trading company

Supplying Rubber Lined Split Clamps to New Berlin, WI & US Buyers

Ferry International exports rubber lined split clamps to HVAC contractors, mechanical distributors, and project procurement teams in New Berlin, Wisconsin and across the United States. HVAC and plumbing projects in Wisconsin — commercial buildings, hospitals, industrial facilities — routinely spec rubber lined clamps for vibration control on chilled water and hot water systems.

Why US HVAC buyers source rubber lined clamps from Ferry:

  • Cost advantage — 30–45% lower landed cost vs. domestic US supply, with no quality compromise
  • EPDM liner consistency — liner thickness and hardness checked per batch; consistent across repeat orders
  • ISO 9001:2015 certified — same quality management standard expected by US mechanical contractors
  • Full import documentation — Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Certificate of Origin, MTC on SS grades
  • Sample shipment option — courier samples (DHL/FedEx) before bulk sea freight commitment

Shipping timeline India → New Berlin, WI: Manufacturing 2–3 weeks → Sea freight to US port 18–25 days → Inland to Wisconsin 2–3 days. Total: 6–8 weeks from confirmed PO.

FAQs

What rubber material is used in the liner? Standard liner is EPDM — rated for -40°C to +120°C, suitable for HVAC and most industrial fluids. Neoprene or nitrile liners available for oil-contact applications on request.

Can rubber lined clamps handle high pressure piping? Yes — the rubber liner does not affect the clamp's structural load capacity. The metal body handles the load; the liner handles surface contact and vibration. For very high-pressure lines, specify heavy-duty rubber lined clamps.

How is the rubber liner attached? The EPDM liner is either mechanically fitted (clip-in) or bonded to the clamp body. Both methods are available — specify at order stage.

Do you supply split clamps for pipes larger than 3"? Yes — custom sizes for 4", 6", and larger OD are available against drawing or sample. Share the OD and application for a quote.
